Aim:
To provide an understanding and a good knowledge base for staff who will be providing personal care to clients. This course gives and introduction to personal care aspects of daily living and various care practices involved in this.
Those who need care face difficulties and challenges with intimate tasks and we aim to teach care staff how to overcome these barriers whilst maintaining the client’s dignity, respect and choice.
We discuss, and practice, toileting, bathing, showering, oral hygiene and assisting with eating and drinking.
We also discuss continence care and management within this course, the impact incontinence can have on an individual, causes of incontinence, treatment and management and how best to utilise incontinence products.
